其实它是一座哥特式礼拜堂，分上下两层。最令人惊叹的就是二楼。虽然占地面积不大，但竖直方向上就被拉伸到一种令人生畏的程度。最妙的是，承重墙被极致缩小到几根石柱而已，反而留下大面积的空位全部用五光十色的彩色玻璃填上。如此一来通过光影营造出来一个神秘而神圣的空间。
La St Chappelle on The Île de la Cité is amazingly splendid. I got to know it in the book A History of Interior Design by John F. Pile. I was so astonished by its beauty that I decided to go there the second I saw the picture.
La St Chappelle is a royal Gothic chapel famous for its great stained glass windows. It stands squarely upon a lower chapel, which will be shown later in this post. The chapel has strong vertical emphasis. Another important feature is that the stone wall surface is extremely reduced to little more than a delicate framework. All the space left is filled with stained classes. All of these features make the chapel look mysterious and divine.

以上是二楼的部分，其实一楼也很有意思。一楼比起二楼空间没有那么开阔，倒是给我们机会看清楚天花板。蓝底金色鸢尾花（Fleur-de-lis）的图案是法国的象征。鸢尾花是法国的国花，曾经也上过法国的国旗。它本是欧洲皇室花园常种植的花卉，再就成了皇室的象征，演变到后来直接成了法国的象征。
The Lower Chapel is not as high as the royal chapel but it gives us a chance to see closely the pattern of ceiling. In fact it is a pattern of golden fleurs-de-lis with a dark blue background. The combination of colors is simple but gorgeous. I like it so much.
